Shangjie, a collaboration between Huawei and SAIC Motor, has officially launched the pre-sales of its first model, the H5 SUV. This new vehicle is positioned as the most affordable model under Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) business. With a pre-sales price range starting at RMB 169,800 ($23,740) and going up to RMB 209,800, the Shangjie H5 offers a competitive pricing strategy.

Scheduled for an official launch on September 23, the Shangjie H5 comes equipped with Huawei’s ADS 4 driving assistance system as a standard feature. This makes it the most affordable model in the market to offer this advanced system. The SUV is available in both Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) variants, catering to different consumer preferences.

The Shangjie H5 is built on SAIC’s Xingyun platform and shares its foundation with the Roewe ES39 model. With dimensions measuring 4,780 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,664 mm in height, the SUV boasts a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. The EREV version of the H5 is powered by a 1.5 L range-extending system, providing a CLTC battery range of up to 230 km and a combined CLTC range exceeding 1,300 km when fully fueled and charged.

On the other hand, the BEV version of the Shangjie H5 offers two battery pack options with capacities of 64.6 kWh and 80 kWh, delivering CLTC ranges of 535 km and 655 km, respectively. The model is equipped with a 192-channel LiDAR and 4D millimeter-wave radars, enabling its driver-assistance system to support various scenarios including highways, urban roads, and rural roads.

As the fifth automotive brand under the HIMA alliance, Shangjie joins Aito, Luxeed, Stelato, and Maextro in offering a total of eight models for sale. The collaboration between SAIC and Huawei has resulted in significant investments, with SAIC president Jia Jianxu revealing an initial investment of RMB 6 billion for the Shangjie brand. Production of the H5 utilizes SAIC’s most mature production lines, ensuring high-quality manufacturing standards.

The Shangjie H5 is set to make a mark in the competitive automotive market, offering advanced technology, competitive pricing, and a range of options to cater to different consumer needs. With its official launch just around the corner, this new SUV is poised to attract a wide range of customers looking for a reliable and innovative vehicle option.
