Lumina Electric Dozer Prototype Officially Revealed

Lumina Electric Dozer Prototype Officially Revealed

San Francisco-based Lumina, founded by Ahmed Shubber in 2021, aims to revolutionize the electric construction equipment industry with its latest creation – a 32-ton electric bulldozer known as the “Moonlander.”

The Moonlander, a first-of-its-kind prototype, boasts the physical footprint of a Caterpillar D6 dozer but offers the blade and performance capabilities of the larger Cat D9. Lumina’s head of UK operations, David Wright, highlighted the machine’s impressive dozing capacity, capable of moving seven to nine cubic meters of material for eight to ten hours.

With a 300 kW charging capability, the Moonlander can quickly recharge its batteries, allowing operators to replenish 50% of the power in just 30 minutes. Lumina has already raised over $8 million and expanded its team to 26 members in preparation for the Moonlander’s launch.

Shubber plans to secure $20-40 million in funding for Lumina’s Series A round to develop the company’s next electric equipment, a 100-ton electric excavator named Blade Runner. The company aims to achieve a $100 million revenue target within the next 24 months, following a Tesla-like growth trajectory.

Like the Moonlander, the Blade Runner will feature cutting-edge autonomous operating technology, aligning with the industry’s shift towards electric and autonomous solutions. Lumina’s ambitious vision and innovative approach have drawn comparisons to Elon Musk’s success with Tesla in the electric vehicle market.
