Zeekr to launch mid-size SUV Zeekr 8X in Q4

Zeekr, a leading electric vehicle (EV) maker, has announced plans to launch a new mid-size SUV called the Zeekr 8X later this year. This new model is expected to further diversify Zeekr’s lineup of hybrid vehicles, offering customers a smaller and more affordable option compared to the Zeekr 9X.

During Geely Auto’s first-quarter earnings conference, Zeekr CEO Andy An revealed that the Zeekr 8X is set to debut in the fourth quarter of this year. This new SUV will join the already launched Lynk & Co 900 and Zeekr 007 GT, as part of Zeekr and Lynk & Co’s plan to introduce a total of five new models in 2025.

While details about the Zeekr 8X are still scarce, it is speculated that this new model will be positioned as a smaller and more budget-friendly hybrid SUV compared to the Zeekr 9X. The Zeekr 9X made its world debut at the Shanghai auto show on April 23, boasting a pure electric range of over 380 kilometers and powered by CATL’s Freevoy Battery technology.

CATL’s Freevoy Battery, introduced in October 2024, offers a range of more than 400 kilometers and supports fast charging, providing a battery electric vehicle (BEV)-like experience in hybrids. The Zeekr 9X is designed for high-performance electric driving, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just three seconds.

The integration of Zeekr and Lynk & Co was completed in February, with plans to launch new models throughout the year. This includes a full-size flagship SUV in the third quarter and a large luxury SUV in the fourth quarter, both featuring super-electric hybrid technology.
